The Boston Celtics entered Wednesday night’s game with an 8-14 record against the other nine top-10 teams in the NBA this season (in terms of record). Yet they managed to walk out 9-14. Led by Jaylen Brown’s 31 points, Boston clawed and scratched its way to a win, snapping the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 12-game win streak. The fully-healthy Thunder, to be exact.
NHL Notes: Swayman hitting high notes at the right time for B's
When the Boston Bruins signed Jeremy Swayman to an eight-year, big money contract they envisioned the exact goaltender that they received in a dominating, clutch performance during a huge weekend road tilt against the Red Wings in Detroit. With massive points for a playoff push on the line, Swayman was dynamite making 41 saves in a 4-2 win for the Black and Gold over the Red Wings where the Bruins had a very clear advantage in net as Detroit’s John Gibson faltered badly in the third period. Swayman has been solid for the balance of the regular season, but he’s been excellent since the Olympic break coming off a gold medal experience and giving his B’s teammates all kinds of confidence when he’s between the pipes right now.

Making his second straight Opening Day start for Boston, Crochet overpowered the Reds, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing three hits and two walks, and striking out eight.
Red Sox name Marcelo Mayer starting second baseman, Kristian Campbell optioned to Triple-A Worcester
Throughout spring training, Alex Cora made it clear that if Marcelo Mayer was going to make the Red Sox’ Opening Day roster, he’d have to earn it. After weeks of Grapefruit League play, Mayer did just that. Cora made it official, telling him he’s made the roster and will serve as Boston’s second baseman.

Simone's Six: Luka Garza, Derrick White, and what went wrong in Celtics-Grizzlies
For over 40 minutes of game time on Friday night, the Memphis Grizzlies ran the Boston Celtics out of the gym. The score may not have told that story, but the game did. Memphis outran, outhustled, and outshot the Celtics. But none of that will go in the record books.
BSJ Game Report: Celtics 109, Hawks 102 - Pritchard halts streaking Atlanta
Once again, the Boston Celtics got hounded by ball pressure. The Atlanta Hawks brought it in waves the last time these two teams squared off, and they did the same to begin Friday night's game.
Celtics Practice Notebook: A WWE appearance, Jayson Tatum thoughts, and accepting the noise
The Boston Celtics don’t have much time to practice once the season gets underway, but Tuesday afternoon provided one of those rare opportunities. These were some of the main stories to come out of the Auerbach Center.
Simone's Six: Payton Pritchard-palooza, a defensive examination, and rebounding in Celtics-Hawks
The Boston Celtics were met with a significant challenge on Friday night. They were buried in buckets by the Atlanta Hawks and quickly faced a 25-9 deficit. Then, Payton Pritchard turned the game on its head.
Hurley: What's really at stake in an A.J. Brown trade?
I wanted to provide one bit of perspective when it comes to the actual cost of acquiring A.J. Brown for the Patriots. The words "first-round pick" can mean a whole lot of things, so I thought it best to zero in on the exact area in the first round that the Patriots own their pick this year to try to provide some detail on the caliber of player that gets taken that late in the first. That way, perhaps we'll all be able to determine how we feel about coughing up a first-round pick, if that is indeed the high end of the asking price for Brown.
Red Sox Opening Day roster set: Garrett Crochet leads rebuilt rotation, all eyes on Roman Anthony
The Red Sox have set their 2026 Opening Day roster and will open the season Thursday afternoon on the road in Cincinnati against the Reds. Boston will send Garrett Crochet, Sonny Gray and Connelly Early to the mound in the opening series before turning to Brayan Bello and Ranger Suárez in Houston.
Simone's Six: Defensive chess, offensive checkers, and a Jayson Tatum update in Celtics-Wolves
Everything looked good until it wasn’t. And then it was again. And then it wasn’t. Sunday night’s game between the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves was a true back-and-forth affair, but the Wolves got the last laugh.
